Leonidas was hit by a car and both his front legs were broken. No one saw when it happened and how it happened. The one woman who saw him injured and unable to walk, left him food and water for 4 days after the accident. On the fourth day at 3 a.m., she notified a volunteer via Facebook. The volunteers rushed at the location indicated by that woman, and they started searching for the poor dog. They had to look for over an hour in the dark, to spot him. When the torch-light fell on his face, he began to scream and tried to escape. How could he even make a move when he was in excruciating pain from his broken legs?
The volunteers took him immediately to the vet. He was operated three times and now 8 months later, he was operated again to remove the metal plates. Both his legs were saved but not without implications. He still needs physiotherapy to build muscle and be able to compensate for the decreased sensation of the paw. For now, he is fostered by us and he plays with the rest of the inmates.
