2018 has been an excellent year at ASCA Patras. We placed 18 dogs in wonderful homes in the USA, Germany, England, and Canada. So, on behalf of Beatrice, Patrick, Sasha, Zoe, Dolly, Annabelle, Cheeky Jr, Keftes, Leonidas, Larry Baklavas, Lucky, Lily, Gigi, Owen, Liam, Brave, Grace and Chicken, we’d like to thank all the adopting families and supporters who made this possible. We love seeing pictures of those pampered pooches, by the way, so please keep sharing.
Unfortunately, the situation in Greece hasn’t improved at all, and we opened our arms to many new residents this year…from terrified loners in poor health to newborn litters. We’ve already taken in five dogs this month alone! Your continued generosity keeps Fosterland up and running, so thank you, once again, to all of you who have helped us with vet expenses, formula for the newborns, and for the unexpected costs that popped up. You are all part of the family here and we love working with you to improve the lives of stray dogs.
Last Christmas, so many of you generously donated to the doghouse project. Thanks to you, all our residents (over 30 at last count) are each living in their own cozy two-room mansion. This winter, we’re doing a little home improvement, adding heat for those colder winter nights. We estimate the total cost, which includes heating element and the materials for the installation (professional installation donated by our resident electrician…thank you Vincent) to come in at about 950 euros. This amount will cover the permanent installation and the heating of the first 10 houses.
There are many expenses associated with such a project. The cost to bring the power from the one side of Fosterland to the other is not low. First of all we need a safe solution as well as a practical one. The 950 euros will cover:
• Protective tubes for the cables to keep rodents away (mice love to chew wires) • Electrical board, fuses and a breaker to ensure maximum safety for the dogs. • Waterproof sockets • Junction boxes • Timer switch and two-way switch • Heating lamps, adaptors and protective cages for the lamps.
Please keep the dogs in mind as you plan your holiday giving this year. Any amount would help make this project a reality. Donations can be sent, via PayPal, firstname.lastname@example.org
So, from all the dogs here at Fosterland…the old, the new, the young, the old, the naughty and the nice....
We wish you all a very happy holiday season.
Thank you for always being there for us and for being, in a world which is becoming increasingly troubled, part of the solution.
